HACG Hornets Shine at SERC MLK Tournament

The HACG Hornets had a strong showing at the 32nd Annual SERC MLK Basketball and Cheer Tournament in Bessemer, Alabama marked by competition, community, and championship moments.

Friday night kicked off the weekend with the old school game, where Coach and FSS Coordinator Mack Murray came out of retirement to take the court. The night also included a skills challenge that allowed several of our youth to participate and have fun.

Saturday was filled with tournament play and wrapped up with a Mardi Gras-themed banquet Saturday night, where our youth stepped out looking sharp and enjoyed time together outside of competition.

On Sunday, the Hornets closed out the tournament in a big way. Our 18U basketball team defeated the three-peat Greensboro Housing Authority team in the championship game, bringing the 1st place title back home to Goldsboro. Our high school cheer squad also earned a 1st place finish in their division, capping off a successful weekend for the Hornets.

Pictures and video footage of the tournament can be found on our Facebook page.
